I wouldn't be able to provide you with excellent vision care without my dedicated and talented staff. By way of introduction, you will find a picture and a little about each of them below.
I was born in Missouri, raised in Illinois, and returned to St Louis to earn a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering at Washington University. Deciding that Chemical Engineering was not really my passion and that I should work in a field that was, I needed to make a change. I had always been fascinated by visits to my Grandpa, an optometrist, as a child. Thinking about this and the amazing complexity of the human eye, I realized that this could easily become a "passion" and that more than anything I wanted to do something which directly helped people.
I enrolled at the University of Missouri - St. Louis and earned a Doctor of Optometry degree, graduating at the top of my class. After completing a residency with the Veterans Administration in Lexington, Kentucky I returned to St. Louis where I taught for a time at UMSL and commuted to Columbia to work with Dr. Dellande. Dr. Dellande had a thriving practice in Columbia and I would later become his partner and later still purchase the practice when he retired.
In 1990 I moved to Columbia to increase my time with Dr. Dellande and to teach at the Mason Eye Institute. Since 1993 I have concentrated on private practice, where I strive to build a team of great staff and provide the best eye care possible.
My wife Gail and I reside in Columbia and are proud "parents" to two miniature schnauzers, Bailey and Molly. I love Celtic music - my wife is not so fond of the bagpipes! - hiking and travel.
Dr. Rich joined the office on a part-time basis 4 years ago. He was born and raised in Warrensburg MO. He attended optometry school at Southern College in Memphis TN and graduated in 2012. In his spare time, he loves snowboarding, and he shares his home with his boxer Bella-Louise.
