The Optomap is an imaging device that provides a wide-angle view of the back of your eye (retina). In most cases, this is a good alternative to being dilated. This technology allows Dr. Kramer to detect many health issues such as Macular Degeneration, Glaucoma, Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, Melanoma and Tumors of the eye, that previously went undetected. It is an image that he will keep and follow year to year with new images, looking for any changes. It is fast, easy and comfortable for all patients. Dr. Kramer will immediately have access to the images and will review them with you. Choosing the Optomap instead of dilation allows the patient to leave the office and continue on with their day with no interruption as dilation does. However, diabetic patients must still be dilated.
